Find answers to common questions about Snap it Share it QR code photo service. Learn how it works for weddings, birthdays, corporate events, and celebrations of all kinds.
Getting started
What is Snap it Share it?
It’s a way to collect every photo and video your guests take at your event. You get one QR code. Your guests scan it, upload from their phone, and everything lands in one private gallery — including the shots the photographer was never going to get.
How does it work
Three easy steps. You create your event and get a QR code. You send it to your guests or print it on table cards, signage or the back of a menu. Guests scan it during the event and upload straight from their camera roll. Photos are instantly added to the album/gallery.
How long does setup take?
About 2 minutes from creating your event to having a QR code you can send out or get printed. as you need to add in a few details.
When should I set my event up?
Whenever suits, but leave yourself time to customise your event details, background, date time, and be able to print cards if you need to.
Can I test it before the day?
Yes. Scan your own code and upload a photo, it’ll appear in your gallery exactly as a guest’s would. Delete it afterwards and nobody will ever know.
Do I need to be technical?
No. If you fill in event details, send or print a page and scan a QR code, you can run this.
For your guests
Do guests need an app?
No. The QR code opens a web page in whatever browser their phone already has. Nothing to download, nothing to update, nothing taking up space on their phone.
Do guests need to create an account?
No. No sign-up, no email address, no password. That’s deliberate every step you put between a guest and the upload button costs you photos.
Does it work on both iPhone and Android?
Yes. It runs in the browser, so any phone with a camera and an internet connection works.
Do guests need Wi-Fi at the venue?
They need an internet connection to upload, either the venue’s Wi-Fi or their own mobile data. If reception is poor at your venue, guests can take photos on the night and upload them later from home; the QR code can keep working after the event.
What if a guest is older or not confident with phones?
Scanning a QR code is the same gesture as taking a photo, point the camera at it and tap the banner that appears. It’s the least technical option available, which is precisely why we don’t use an app.
Can guests upload videos as well as photos?
Yes both photos and videos.
Can guests leave a message as well as a photo?
Yes. The main guestbook takes written messages, and guests can comment on photos or videos as well as ‘like/love them ❤️’
Photos/videos, downloads and how long they last
Can I download all the photos and videos?
Yes. The whole event can be downloaded in one go, at the resolution they were uploaded at.
Are the photos full resolution, or compressed?
Full resolution. This is the main reason not to collect wedding photos in a group chat, messaging apps compress heavily, and the loss is permanent.
How long do photos stay available?
On the single-event plan your gallery is live for 3 months from your event date, that’s the window for guests to upload and for you to download.
On the annual plan it is always available whilst you have an active subscription. Our advice would be to download once the event is complete and everyone has uploaded. So then you have a copy permanently, in case you want to remove the event from your Snap it Share it library.
Is there a limit on how many photos we can upload?
No cap on the number of photos or videos. However we do have a Fair use policy applicable to our services.
Can I use my own branding?
Yes you can customise you event for your guests with title, sub-text, colours, buttons and a hero image background.
Can I show the photos on a screen during the event?
Yes. The live slideshow displays uploads on any Smart TV / computer screen or projector as they arrive, which is also the single most effective way to get more guests uploading, people see their photo on the wall and everyone else joins in.
Privacy, safety and moderation
Are the photos private?
Yes. Your gallery isn’t public and isn’t listed anywhere, it’s reachable only through your QR code and link.
Who owns the photos?
You and your guests do. Uploading doesn’t hand us any ownership of your photos or videos.
Do you use our photos to train AI?
No, no images are send to AI models for training, all images are contained to your gallery.
What if a guest uploads something inappropriate?
You can delete any photo or video from your event gallery at any time.
What happens to my photos after my event ends?
For single event or yearly subscription, if you don’t renew, we hold images in an archive, after a further 3 months we will contact you before removing permanently.
Different kinds of events
Can I use this for a wedding?
That’s what most people use it for. One QR code on each table collects the whole day from every angle, the getting-ready, the speeches, the dance floor at midnight, including everything your photographer had already packed up for.
Do we still need it if we've hired a photographer?
They do different jobs. Your photographer produces the images you’ll frame. Your guests capture the ones you didn’t know happened, the table your photographer wasn’t at, the moment at the bar, the video your cousin took of the speech. One is the record, the other is the night.
Can I use it for a birthday, engagement or anniversary?
Yes. Any event where people are taking photos on their phones and those photos would otherwise scatter across forty different cameras/phones.
Does it work for corporate events and conferences?
Yes, and the bigger the event the more it earns its place. At a large event the photos end up scattered across a few hundred phones and most of them are never seen again. One QR code brings them into a single branded gallery you own.
Does it work for a multi-day or destination event?
Yes, one event (holiday or expedition) can span several days or weeks, and the QR code works anywhere with an internet connection.
Practical questions
Can I print the QR code myself?
Yes. Download it and print it on anything, table cards, signage, the order of service, a sticker on the bar.
Where should I put the QR code?
Table cards work best, one per place setting or table, where people are already sitting with their phones out. Also worth having: the welcome sign, the back of the menu, the bar, and near the bathroom mirror (unglamorous, remarkably effective). Have whoever’s on the microphone mention it early in the night; that single announcement does more than any sign.
What if guests forget on the night?
The link can keep working after the event, so people can upload from home when they’re going through their camera roll. A message the next morning saying “the gallery’s still open” usually brings in a surprising second wave.
What if a guest can't scan the QR code?
Send them the guest upload link by text or email, it opens the same page. Worth having that link saved in your phone on the night; it’s the fastest fix for the one guest whose camera won’t cooperate.
Which phones and browsers does it work on?
Any phone, tablet or computer with a camera and an internet connection — iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, in Safari, Chrome, Firefox or Edge. There’s nothing to install, so there’s nothing to be incompatible with.
Something's not working, how do I get help?
Always do a test before your event, so make sure you know how it works and the dates, titles etc are correct. if you have any issues with event setup you can contact us on support@snapitshareit.com or contact us through our contact page contact us here
Compared to the alternatives
Why not just use a shared Google Photos or iCloud album?
You can, and some people do. The friction is that everyone needs the right account, has to accept an invitation, and has to remember which album. Half your guests will be on the wrong platform and a third won’t bother.
A QR code needs none of that, no account, no invitation, no app.
How is this different from a wedding hashtag on Instagram?
A hashtag makes your photos public, scatters them across accounts you can’t download from, and loses everything from guests who aren’t on Instagram, which at most weddings is a lot of the room.
Your gallery is private, in one place, downloadable at full resolution, and the photos are yours rather than the platform’s.
Why not just ask people to text me their photos?
Messaging apps compress heavily. What arrives is a fraction of the resolution your guest actually shot, and the loss is permanent, there’s no way to get the original back later. You’d also spend the following week collecting 40 separate threads into one folder.
How is this different from other QR photo apps?
Most of them do the collecting and stop there. You end up with one folder of a few thousand photos that gets opened once. We score them for clarity and composition, so you can filter and see the best photos instantly.
Remote guests and multiple events
Can people who couldn't make it still contribute photos?
Yes. Send them the upload link and they can add photos from wherever they are useful for family overseas, and for anyone who had to leave early.
Can I set this up after the event has already happened?
Yes. Create the event, send the link around, and guests can upload from their camera rolls afterwards. Not ideal, you’ll collect far more on the night with a code on the table, but it still works.
Can I run more than one event on my account?
Yes. Every event gets its own QR code and its own gallery, and they stay separate. If you’re running more than about three a year, the annual plan works out cheaper than buying them one at a time.
Can I see photos arriving as they come in?
Yes, uploads appear in your gallery album live, and you can setup a live frame to have a slideshow so your guest can see them come in as their uploaded to.
